PVC Rail Notcher – Locking Tab Punch Tool

What It Does

When you cut a PVC fence rail to a non-standard length, the factory-formed locking tab at the end is removed with the offcut. Without that tab, the rail can pull free of the post under wind load or general movement. This hand notcher re-creates a clean locking tab on the cut end so the rail snaps back into the routed slot in the post and stays locked.

How to Use

1. Cut your PVC rail to the desired length on a flat work surface
2. Insert the jaws of the notcher about 20mm into the open channel of the rail
3. Position the wider jaw on the outside wall of the channel, narrower jaw on the inside
4. Squeeze the handles firmly together until you feel the tab punch through
5. Slide the rail into the post slot until it snaps audibly into place

Tips for Best Results

• Mark the tab position to align with the routed slot in the post before punching
• Always cut the rail to length first, then notch — not the other way around
