David Ashburner
Managing Director
Co-founder of Team Work Fencing, and a background that spans economics and digital marketing, David brings a unique blend of business insight and family values to his role. Born in Zimbabwe and relocating to Perth in 2003, he joined the family business in 2015, starting the Perth Metro branch of Team Work Fencing, and growing it into a larger business while maintaining its welcoming and supportive culture.
A thrill-seeker who’s developed a healthy respect for heights, David channels his energy into high-intensity activities like running, swimming, cycling—and spending quality time with his family.

Isabella Ashburner

With 15 years of executive administration experience in the construction and facilities management sectors, Isabella brings expertise in strategy, project delivery, and operational leadership. Passionate about efficiency and mentoring emerging talent, Isabella drives high-impact outcomes for Team Work Fencing.
A certified diver who finds peace beneath the ocean, Isabella enjoys painting birds in her downtime, and spending time with her family.
John Ashburner
Consultant
Originally from Zimbabwe, John started Team Work Fencing with his wife Sarah in 2009. With a background in managing farming projects and leading teams, he brought this hands-on experience and leadership skills into the fencing industry—and hasn’t looked back since. Now stepping into a support role as a consultant, John is proud to see his son David carry the business forward, with the help of an exceptional team.
A lifelong sports fan and outdoor enthusiast, John also has a musical side, having performed in musicals in his old farming community.

Sarah Ashburner
Projects & Admin Support
Co-founder of Team Work Fencing, Sarah now works behind the scenes supporting the administration and special projects. With a background spanning the clothing industry and teaching, she brings both business savvy and a creative touch, skills that have been instrumental since Team Work Fencing's early days.
Having lived in several countries and travelled to many more, Sarah now proudly calls Australia home. She enjoys playing bridge, gardening, and exploring new places.

Keegan Hartslief
Partnership Manager
Joining Team Work Fencing in early 2023, Keegan’s journey spans South Africa, Auckland, and Sydney before settling in Perth. With hands-on experience as a fencing contractor and a solid foundation in hospitality and sales, he now focuses on leading the quoting and sales team, ensuring customers are provided with the right solutions for their individual needs.
Fascinated by ants and passionate about surfing, permaculture, and emerging tech like AI and robotics, Keegan’s curiosity is contagious.

Callum Higginson
Onsite Estimator
Hailing from England’s South West countryside, Callum arrived in Perth at the end of 2020. With a rich background in sports coaching and hands-on electrical work—including smoke detector and speaker installations—he now brings his people skills and technical know-how to his role as Onsite Estimator.
Never on the losing side in a sporting cup final, Callum is an avid sports lover who’s been kicking balls and batting tennis balls at anything that stands still since he was four.

Matt O’Connell
Installation Supervisor
Originally from Waiuku, New Zealand, Matt has been part of Team Work Fencing since 2016. A licensed electrician with extensive experience in electrical sales and production management, Matt now leads installation teams and regional projects, specialising in detailed drawings and solving installation challenges. He is known for being able to solve almost any construction problem presented to him.
AAn avid photographer and sports enthusiast, Matt gives back to the community through his involvement with local cricket and rugby clubs, and enjoys golf and most other sports.

Connor Hall

Connor joined Team Work Fencing in August 2021 after transitioning from life on a dairy farm to life on the tools. Connor has become a specialist in both pool and security fencing — always bringing precision, focus, and a can-do attitude to the job.
A sharp pool player and car enthusiast, Connor’s ideal weekend includes time at the Motorplex watching drift events and skids.

Wazza Firth
Installer
Born in Dampier and now proudly based in the South West, Wazza has been with Team Work Fencing since the very beginning — he installed the company’s first fence back in August 2009. With nearly 30 years in the fencing industry, he’s worked with almost every material and style out there. His trademark? Quality craftsmanship and friendly, no-fuss communication with clients.
Wazza is never happier than when he’s in the ocean — whether he’s free diving, boating, fishing, or surfing. He’s also a competitive pool player with ambitions to represent WA at state level.

Cheyenne Iveson
Junior Office Manager
A proud Perth local, Cheyenne joined Team Work Fencing in October 2024. With nine years of corporate reception and administration experience, she keeps the office, and everyone in it, running smoothly.
A cat lover and aunty to 10, Cheyenne enjoys reading, watching classic movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Sharad Chaudhury
Distribution Supervisor/Junior Engineer
Originally from Nepal, Sharad moved to Australia in search of professional growth, and joined Team Work Fencing in 2023. His journey has taken him from gate-making and on-site installation work to managing stock and coordinating our warehouse team.
Sharad loves learning new skills and keeping the team spirit high with plenty of good humour. Off the clock, he’s passionate about football and enjoys exploring nature through weekend hikes.

Michael Mertinat
Installer
With decades of industry experience, Michael has been working with fences and Colorbond products since 1995. He joined Team Work Fencing in 2016 and has been a familiar face on job sites ever since, contributing to a wide variety of projects across WA. With a strong focus on sliding gates and modern fencing styles, Michael brings both expertise and enthusiasm to every job.
Known as a happy, friendly worker, Michael is all about good energy on site —off the clock, he’s into fishing and competing in indoor beach volleyball.

Jess & Shaun
Installers
Shaun and Jess are an installation duo with over 20 years of combined fencing experience. Since joining Team Work Fencing in 2022, they’ve built a reputation for their practical know-how, problem-solving skills, and ability to handle even the most complex installations with ease.
Outside of work, they enjoy fishing with their children, riding motorbikes, and working on cars. Jess is a fan of wood chopping, while Shaun can often be found tinkering in the shed, fixing things, and sharing a well-earned cold beer.
